One of our specializations is assisting people with a Non-congenital Brain Disease. Our movement scientist Wim Kwakkel is trained to help people with Non-congenital Brain Disorders recover after their rehabilitation.

We know how difficult it is to get back on track after contracting a brain disorder. Various causes such as; uncertainty, physical disability, fatigue or learning to know one's limits, can be experienced as a huge barrier.

During our counseling appointments, we pay extra attention to regaining confidence and try to provide as much structure as possible so that the athlete can eventually train fully independently again.

Benefits of exercising after contracting an NAH:

  • Exercise improves blood flow in the brain;
  • Exercise promotes the production of new brain cells (keep brain healthy by moving);
  • Exercise promotes the ability of brain parts to take over functions of damaged brains;
  • Exercise can counteract negative effects of stress on the brain;
  • Exercise produces substances in the brain that make us feel pleasant.
